Co-Curricular Activities 2009-2010

During the school year there are several co-curricular activities which are a part of the life and program of CCS.  Below is a list of these.  Perhaps you would like to be involved in one or more.  Talk to your teacher about participating.

Sports Teams: There must be enough academically eligible students to form the teams.

Basketball: Teams are available for junior high and high school students.  Covenant is a member of the California Christian Athletic Association (CCAA). A fee and physical examination are required.

Football:  This flag football team for boys in grades 7-12, competes against other small Christian schools.  A fee and physical examination are required.

Volleyball:  This team is available for both junior high and high school girls.  A fee and physical examination are required.

Senior Trip: This annual study trip examines the culture and heritage of a neighboring city or state.  The trip is not mandatory, but encouraged.

Field Trips/Special Outings: During the school year, special activities are planned by many teachers to enhance their curriculum.  The junior and senior high schools plan social activities.  Activities that have become traditional include a dressy dinner in November and a “ditch day” at Sea World in May (grades 8 and 12).  Parties and outings occur throughout the school calendar for both junior and senior high schools.

Art Festival: This is also an annual event within our school for all grades.  Winning art is sent on to the District Art Festival.

Junior High Speech Meet: This is an annual event for 7th and 8th grades.  Winners go on to compete in the ACSI District 1 Speech Meet.

Spelling Bee: This event is for all students in grades 1-8.  Winners go on to compete at the ACSI District 1 level.  If successful there, they are eligible to compete in the regional meet.  Four winning students are selected at the regional meet to compete in the nationals in Washington, D.C.
